You Can Now Like People’s Instagram Story Without Sending A DM

Instagram won’t notify you about story likes because the point of rolling them out is to reduce notifications. In an official announcement from Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, it’s said this feature is being rolled out in an effort to clean up users’ DM inboxes. Instagram users have a new way to engage with stories with the addition of a like button. It’s perfect for individuals who occasionally conduct polls to determine which photo to share or for those who only wish to post a photo to their story rather than their feed. Instagram, as a social media network, adapts to shifting technological trends in order to remain relevant and user-friendly.

I like using the highlighter pen to add emphasis to words — or even to highlight my photo or video. This is a passive but effective way to nurture your relationships with the users that matter most to your business’s growth. We’ll explain how to link to other accounts in an Instagram Story in the tips below. Whether it’s an office holiday party or an award banquet, posting footage of it to your Story is easy and in-the-moment entertainment for your followers. This content also shows people you’re a relevant and friendly voice in your market. Alternatively, skip the two previous steps and swipe up on your screen to browse your gallery.

Simply tap the record button once to start the video, and again to stop it after you’ve got the footage you want. You can also save your edited photo or video to your gallery by tapping the “Download” icon up top. Open up the Instagram app on your phone and tap your profile picture near the upper left-hand corner. To start viewing Instagram Stories, open your Instagram mobile app and tap the home icon on the bottom-lefthand corner of your screen.

Plus, Stories give your audience a small peek into what goes on behind the scenes—and followers love that. Alternatively, you have the option in the Story Settings menu to select Save to Camera Roll. If you choose this option, Instagram automatically saves photos and videos to your camera roll when you add them to your story. Once you’ve captured a great apple store corte madera photo or video, it’s time to jazz it up with some fun stickers. You can access these by clicking “Create,” then tapping the smiling sticker icon in the upper right-hand corner of your screen once you’ve captured a photo or video. When you like someone’s story, the reaction is shared privately with that person rather than in your DM thread with them.

Get the latest social media gossip, memes, news and tips sent straight to your inbox. Your followers, who may not know you very well, can pop in what they assume about you, and you can respond by telling them whether they were right or wrong. This is a fun way to see what your followers think of you, but also a way to respond to any common questions or comments you might get on your posts. These pretty much worked as advertised—users encouraged their followers to ask questions they wanted to know. Personal questions are a great way for your followers to get to know you as a creator, employee, CEO—whatever your role is in relation to the account or brand. They’re also perfect for engagement—because they disappear after just 24 hours, viewers are more likely to pay attention and interact with them while they’re still up.

If not, skip to the video at the bottom of this section for a simple hack to add links to Stories even without 10,000 followers. Instead of asking your followers what they think, the questions sticker allows your followers to ask you questions. Think of it as the Instagram equivalent of an Ask Me Anything.

To view someone’s Story, simply tap on their profile photo. Their Story will appear in full-screen, and you’ll be able to view all of the content they’ve posted within the last 24 hours. On average, social media campaigns on Instagram see about a 20% increase in reach when Stories are involved.

Go to your Story camera, find your Story settings and slide the Save story to Camera Roll option on. Every time you create a Story, the videos and images will be automatically saved to your camera roll on your phone. Mosseri, in his video, said that the idea is to let people know that others are reacting to their Stories, while cleaning up the DMs a little bit. You can either do this by swiping your screen down, or by tapping on the icon at the bottom left of the screen, for your latest media.

You can also add music from artists on the app by clicking on the music sticker and choosing which section of the song you’d like in your Story. When you’re moving around text and stickers on your Story, you’ll see blue lines appear vertically or horizontally in the frame. These are guiding lines you can use to make sure you’re keeping everything centered. Not only will you see who saw your Story, but also dig into the actions taken by viewers.
