This article of mine was shared by Brian Tracy and 9700 other people. It still gets retweets and shares every single week. Each publication has their own requirements and preferences with regards to the content they promote. It can seem almost like a maze you have to navigate with no map. It also gives you other places to share your message. I can rank in Google for almost any 3-5 word term with my account at Huffington Post.

However, make sure you don’t explicitly mention or call out the headline in your piece, because Business Insider will often change your headline. It’s not a guarantee that they will, but neither is it guaranteed to slide in unchanged. There’s plenty of room for joy and wonder here, too. We can do it all, with a blistering irreverence and sense of discovery. To send information on a story to someone at Insider, see this page. But recently, I’ve decided to step outside my comfort zone and try something new.

For most blog SEO, this is true, and it’s why I always aim for closer to 2,000 for my posts. However, Business Insider is a sort of “lunch break” news site. The people who read their content are busy and don’t have more than a few minutes at a time to read stories.

A few years ago, I was reaching out to Entrepreneur for a story, and I stumbled across the opportunity to become a regular contributor. I had pieces for their editor to review and specific PR and business topics to submit, and I got the gig. We pay writers once per month for the preceding month’s published articles. Articles that don’t meet our editorial guidelines of retail-focused, high quality, exclusive, original content will be rejected without pay. Now, the chances that they’ll syndicate something from your site are pretty slim. They want to syndicate content from high profile sites, like Inc.

Put yourself in the seat of the editor of a major publication. Every day they just want to get home to a warm dinner of meat and three veg but can’t until they clear their inbox. Every writer is given an “author box” which displays at the article conclusion. Links are permitted in this section which typically includes content such as your bio, company background, and a single offer. ECommerce Insiders writers are ecommerce subject matter experts.

You should get the gist of it after five or ten stories. Business Insider recently ran a story about my schedule, written by Moi and edited by one of BI’s editors. My phone abruptly exploded as soon as the story hit the feeds. I’ve received two job offers on the same day and a decent dose of recognition from family and friends.

Arianna Huffington, in her keynote presentation at INBOUND 2013, invited every blogger present to write for her. Later, I got a strange email from a Guardian editor asking me if I’d contribute to a new media and technology section. Apparently, they’d made a list of industry folks to target. Glassdoor gives you an inside look at what it’s like to work at Business Insider, including salaries, reviews, office photos, and more.

I used a survey to come up with unique data about Internet users. I then pitched the data to media sites with the condition that I write it up myself, and Search Engine Land picked it up. I owe the opportunity to contribute to Forbes to Cheryl Snapp Conner, a contributor before me. I hired her to help with PR for my book, Your Mark on the World, and she introduced me to her editor.

The editors make an offer once they accept your pitch. I took the first offer without much negotiation as it was my first time writing for BI. Recreate a similar outline to other published articles.
