From inside this area you get a bird’s eye view of the stage and band area. Maybe you will catch Elaine Petty playing her guitar and singing. The crowd really gets into her raspy singing voice and people start dancing. Strung across the dance floor is a “clothesline” with bras hanging from it. This bar even has a balcony section and a clothesline strung from there to the band stand. This serves the purpose of giving tips to the band and making requests.

They have 5 different stages and someone is always playing something on at least one of them. You can hear country, rock, ballads, or beach music. The 4 owners focus on live music, hosting everyone from locally known groups to famous musical stars. They also have a myriad of fun and crazy events at the Flora-Bama. This famous bar is consistently named as one of the best beach bars in the United States.

The Flora-Bama is made up of many levels and a tent and each area seems to have its own bar and personality. We counted 3 playing at the same time on our last visit. In addition to live music some of the ongoing weekly and daily happenings include ladies nights, open mic nights, and bingo. In addition to live music there is always something fun going on at the bar. The price of your ticket will alter depending on the event you’re attending and where your seat is located.

The Buffet song Bama Breeze is about this and other local dive bars. The Flora-Bama is a large wooden building that you can enter from either the roadside parking lot or from the beach via a long boardwalk. Inside you discover a confusing jumble of rooms, stages, bars, stairs, and hallways. Parnell said approximately 2,500 people – about the equivalent of the city of Stapleton – will toss a dead mullet over the course of this weekend.

The event will continue with music in the main room from 6-10 p.m. And with a full day of music in the main room on Monday, 2-10 p.m. As always at the legendary, laid-back Flora-Bama, the vibe will be informal.

This created a new state line and the Tampary family decided to build a small bar and package store right on that line. A 2022 membership card for $45 will get someone into the Flora-Bama all weekend and all year long, excluding some special events. Parnell said approximately 500 of the slender fish will be chilled and readied for tossing during the weekend. The fish are tossed multiple times, Parnell said, not just once. The mullet are purchased from a local fish market and are already dead once they arrive to the toss. Indeed, the Interstate Mullet Toss, dubbed the Gulf Coast’s “Greatest Beach Party,” is expected to draw around 30,000 people over the next three days.

Our guests are our family and we enjoy seeing them once a year or every day. The Flora-Bama has live entertainment every day and sometimes several times a day. This Florida beach bar draws a crowd, and they are big enough to handle it.
