Featuring an 8.4-inch touchscreen, standard keyless “Enter n’ Go” with push-button start and available heated steering wheel, Dodge Journey offers a slew of high-tech features at a price that is still affordable to families. With best-in-class storage space, available fold-flat seats, second-row in-floor storage and front-passenger “Flip-N-Stow” in-seat storage, the Journey is a true utility infielder. The interior isn’t just a nice place to be, it also offers best-in-class utility.

Find out the size, fuel consumption, especially engines, suspensions, and other technical specs of automobiles. The Journey’s interior is far from upscale, but its simple controls are user-friendly. Getting anyone to fit in the third row—even children—requires those in the second row to compromise their legroom. Cheap-feeling bits such as a plasticky shifter and hollow-sounding interior one drawback of a personal marketing survey is that door-trim panels are especially egregious on the priciest version. Several luxury features including a power-adjustable passenger seat, cooled seats, and heated rear seats are notable in their absence from the options list. Journey’s all-wheel-drive system works on demand, driving only the front wheels until power to the rear wheels is needed to maximize fuel efficiency.

It goes on sale in August 2008 – a full year after it’s being shown at Frankfurt – and we hear it will cost somewhere between £17-18,000. Standard equipment will include three-row side curtain airbags and ESP stability control, plus a raft of other toys to uphold Dodge’s value-for-money reputation. The 2015 Dodge Journey’s chassis architecture delivers a confidence-inspiring driving experience coupled with precise steering for maximum control. Strong torsional stiffness in the steering column intermediate shaft isolator, in conjunction with Journey’s rear suspension geometry, delivers precise steering feel and a connected steering response. R/T’s more aggressive suspension tuning gives a sportier ride and even greater handling precision for when the roads turn twisty.

The Dodge Journey, a three-row CUV, accompanied countless families on their carpools, grocery runs and road trips over the years, offering plenty of room for cargo and passengers. The four-door, seven-passenger CUV ceased production in 2020.

Second-row and available third-row seats fold flat to create 67.6 cu. Second-row seats recline and have available class-exclusive integrated child booster seats. Available third-row seating is a popular option that is available on all trim levels and not offered on most of Journey’s competitors. There are also innovative removable storage bins in the floor ahead of the second-row seats, which can hold everything from muddy clothes to soda cans, and conceal valuables like a camera, laptop or purse. With fold-flat front passenger, second-row and third-row seats, second-row in-floor storage, and front passenger in-seat storage, Dodge Journey has best-in-class storage. Dodge Journey features standard electronic stability control and all-speed traction control, which help keep the crossover on path in a variety of road surface and weather conditions.

The Journey SE and Crossroad trims come with an underpowered four-cylinder engine that’s best avoided—except you can’t, since the V-6 is no longer offered. The 172-hp engine is woefully underpowered and the four-speed automatic transmission that’s reluctant to downshift further dulls its real-world performance. The Journey AVP, SE, SXT and Crossroad are powered by a standard 2.4-liter 16-valve DOHC four-cylinder engine, which produces 173 horsepower and 166 lb.-ft. This four-cylinder engine delivers 26 miles per gallon on the highway. Although every model features an easy-to-use touchscreen, the system has fewer features than many other Dodge products.

There’s a large front storage bin with side nets and a multi-function three-spoke steering wheel with standard integrated cruise and radio controls. The Journey’s lackluster safety report card reveals that it’s not the best choice when it comes to sheltering your precious onboard cargo. Its crash-test results are not great, and—what’s worse—it offers none of the advanced driver-assistance technology that is expected in other family haulers. The Journey will be Dodge-branded only and is based on the Avenger saloon, so comes with that car’s 2.4-litre petrol and VW-sourced 2.0-litre diesel. The wheelbase of the platform is 124mm longer than on the Avenger, to free up more space for bodies and baggage. Both powertrains will be available with a manual or auto gearbox, all driving the front wheels.

Likewise, the larger screen is responsive, but we wish Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability were offered here. There’s also only a single USB port up front—not great for the device-happy spawn likely to inhabit the back seats. The four-cylinder engine has the worst EPA ratings among competitors with similar powertrains, with 19 mpg in city driving and 25 mpg on the highway. By comparison, the 2019 Honda CR-V is rated at 26 city and 32 mpg on the highway, while the 2019 Toyota C-HR is rated at 27/31.

Four-wheel anti-lock brakes and electronic-roll mitigation also are standard on all 2015 Dodge Journey models. The award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, optional on SXT and Crossroad and standard on Limited and R/T models and all-wheel drive models, produces a best-in-class 283 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft.
