Simone is a 15 year old singer/songwriter from New York City. Her passion for art is undeniable and was discovered at a very young age. On her 10th birthday, Simone was gifted a guitar and began writing instantly. Her first open mic was in Nashville, Tennessee at which she performed her original songs “For You” and “Contagious”. The open mic began her career as a performer as it lead Simone to begin playing at open mics in NYC, and soon full solo shows. At an open mic in Manhattan, a producer caught the eye of Simone and ended up helping her create her debut EP “Stories in My Mind” (2017), a five song album that includes all original songs written by Simone at the ages of 11 and 12. Later, Simone recorded “Monsters” (2019) which gives off similar sounds to those of early Alanis Morissette and Taylor Swift. Her more recent EP “To Be Honest” (2020) showcases her genre switch from a country/rock sound to pop/alternative, as well as the switch of her artist name from “Simone Lipkin” to “Simone”. With high hopes for the future, Simone continues to write mature, intimate lyrics that she hopes people will connect to. She is just getting started, and is incredibly excited to continue her journey in the music industry.
What inspires you to make music?
As someone who has listened and admired other people’s music my whole life, I know the impact a song can have on someone. The fact that people can connect to my music, feel something from listening to it, and relate it back to their own life is something so magical. It brings the listeners and the artist together. I write these songs in my bedroom about my own life, and then I get to hear people tell me that it helped them get through something going on in their life. That connection is so special to me.
Tell us about this project?
This song “Can’t Get Enough of You” is part of my second EP “To Be Honest”. It’s one of my favorites off the EP, and a lot of people say it’s their favorite too. I brought this song into the studio with Danny Ross, who produced the whole EP, and we created it in less than a day. It was the first song we ever made together and the experience was unforgettable. I remember driving home that night and listening to the demo over and over again cause I was so excited about it.
Who were your musical inspirations growing up?
Taylor Swift is the reason why I write songs and why I picked up a guitar for the first time. I owe so much to her! She has taught me so many things about the music industry and business, things that have stuck with me and will stick with me forever. It’s not just her music that inspires me, it’s her relationship with her fans and her genuine personality that has been such an influence in my career and the way I do things.
Are You Working On Any New Projects?
I am always writing. Always. Right now, I’m just continuing to try and build my skills as a songwriter and musician and make sure that the next bunch of music I put out is my best work yet. I’m going to release these new songs as soon as I can, because I’m so excited about them.
How long have you been creating music?
I’ve been writing music forever, but it didn’t get serious until I was 10 or 11. Before then I would just make up songs about flowers and butterflies. Once I started to play the guitar, I learned a lot more about songwriting and I haven’t stopped since then. I’m just so in love with it.
Do you want to say anything to the people who support your music?
THANK. YOU. I can never thank you enough. To the people that have been to my gigs, that stream my music, and that share it to other people : you mean everything to me.
