Living in 2 Worlds has a strong lead in with Focused, a track that is reminiscent of a track that you would hear as a heavyweight boxer enters the ring in front of a sold out crowd and as the album unfurls it traverses different styles of hip hop and rap from hardcore heavy hitting beats of Un(wanted), Mil-walk-ay, and LOB to smooth jazzy melodic interludes of Hello Day and The Luv Aint There. Living in 2 Worlds also introduces new collaborations with artists like Tom Brady, Dom McNeal and Rina who add a significant amount of depth and character to the album as they introduce their own styles into Nate’s songs. It’s very clear that throughout Nate’s career he’s incorporated the stylings of other artists, local and major alike putting his own unique spin on their approach and his hard work and study is starting to pay off. There are so many good things to say about Living in 2 Worlds like the diversity in song composition and lyric writing along with Nate’s delivery which, in comparison to earlier releases, has been polished to a fine sheen. The only thing this album leaves me wanting is more work on harmony vocals. Dream On is literally only better vocals on the chorus and bridge away from being a hit song. Inconsistent harmony is present in other releases and just seems to be an issue of focus because in songs like Back Away and Focused, the vocals work very well to bring the song together. Another song that could just use a little more time in post-production is High Road, again a very muddy refrain distracts from a song that has a unique and powerful message. Overall Living in 2 Worlds puts on the forefront a very personal struggle of weighing Nate’s personal life as a pious musician and his professional life. Nate also shares struggles with piety and the temptations of everyday life. Tracks like The Luv Aint There, Hello Day, LOB and Back Away give us a glimpse into the many lives that Nate navigates and provides a foothold for listeners to relate to all the personal and professional struggles we all have to surmount on a daily basis. Living in 2 Worlds is a continued step in the right direction and proves to me that Nate is starting to come into his own as he continues to learn, perfect and deliver music in a way that leaves me wanting more and has lyrically creative ways to keep my head nodding and that finds me unable to get crafty hooks out of my head for days. His collaboration with Rina, Dom McNeal, Tom Brady and others on this record is tasteful and well placed and only adds to an already solid release. I’m really looking forward to whatever is next from Nate, Overdose to now, it’s clear that Nate will only get better. So if you’re just looking for a new summer jam in Hello Day or if you’re looking for just a great way to kick back with The Luv Aint There, pick up Living in 2 Worlds and keep your eyes on this guy that’s showing us all just how much the Holy Ghost has got him Chosen. I learned just like everyone else that this song was inspired by a true story from Nate himself on his Instagram page. (@nate3wood) I have never heard any music by Rina before she was featured on this song, but after her smooth and soothing vocals on this single I cannot wait to dig a little bit into her catalog. “The Luv Aint There” is so real. You can feel the authenticity throughout the song. Nate Wood does an amazing job lyrically of using his words to give you a visual representation of what is going on. He wastes zero words on this song. Everything has a place including the ad-libs created by Rina, which really adds another level to the song. “The Luv Aint There” is a well-put together song. Nate Wood is expanding as an artist. His growth and potential really continues to rise. He is beginning to find himself and in my opinion still learning what he is capable of. The way he arranged this track really brings it to life. I look forward to continuing to watch Nate’s progression and growth into something very special. I would highly recommend this song to anyone who loves good authentic heart felt music. Anthony Barksdale IndieNation.[/wr_text][/wr_column][/wr_row]

This r&b star in the making has been making major waves and is gaining tons of momentum heading into the summer. So far MarkMk has worked with artists such as; John legend, Jadakiss, and Jim Jones, just to name a few. MarkMk has relentless drive and a powerful voice catapulting him into the future. One thing that I really like about MarkMk is that he really stands up for things that he believes in. One of the first things that come to mind is the Colon Cancer Foundation and the work that he has done with them, like the huge event at Yankees Stadium that MarkMk got to be a part of. Colon cancer touched close to home for MarkMk taking the life of his brother Joseph Giddings. Honoring his brother, MarkMk has stepped up to the plate to help raise awareness to a younger generation that may not truly understand that what we do today has a direct effect later in life. MarkMk has been a true advocate for the cause, and even created a hit single titled, “Protect Ya Butt,” This song is available on Spotify. Musically, MarkMk is very impressive. After listening to his music I’m sure you will agree. But the intangibles are what draw me to an artist such as MarkMk. Work ethic, commitment, drive, and purpose are just a few things that he has shown me in the short time knowing him. “Very meticulous with his craft a true perfectionist. Someone who holds everyone accountable including himself. Always looking to get better. A True leader.” After talking to and watching from a distance I began to really support the movement and root for MarkMk. He’s very authentic. What you see is what you get. A good mix of humble and confidence. Someone who goes out and creates his own opportunities. I expect huge things from MarkMk in the near future and can’t help but to root for him as he continues in her journey. Anthony Barksdale #IndieNation[/wr_text][/wr_column][/wr_row]

He attributes his style to the influence of a wide range of musical talents including guys like Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and most recently group Twenty One Pilots. Lembo is a mastermind of mixing commercial rap/pop with crisp lyrics on every track and has been turning industry heads with his contagious flow, signature styling and charming personality; Spurring a collaboration for his 2012 “Can’t Come Down” single – with Charlie Zwick (P. Diddy, Fabolous, Asher Roth) who directed the video for the track – which has eclipsed over 200,000 views on YouTube. Mike Lembo just released a new mixtape titled, “Polygraph.” The first thing I noticed about Mike Lembo is how lyrical he is. His music is based around a story and each song tells its very own. Another thing I really enjoyed about the album was the versatility Mike Lembo showed by using different style beats and flows all while staying on message. My favorite song on this album would have to be track number 3, Paint the town red.” The beat gives me this old school New York vibe that automatically plays close to my heart. Mike Lembo comes on the track with the perfect flow. I really appreciated this song and enjoyed the creativity Mike displayed. Another song I really liked was the last song, “Three 16’s.” Mike spits 3 tough verses although I think the last one was my favorite. The single titled, “Tomahawk” had a west coast vibe that caught me by surprise being that Mike is clearly a New Yorker. It really speaks to the versatility of Mike. You can a huge mix of music in this one tape. One thing is consistent; Mike is lyrical and does a great job of staying on whatever message he created for every song. I was impressed with this album because I can tell that it is authentic. Mike didn’t try to sound like the crowd, or redo something that you would hear on the radio with this album. He stayed true to his soul and created a tape that has a natural feel of authenticity. Instagram: @mikelembomusic Twitter: @mikelembomusic[/wr_text][/wr_column][/wr_row]

Who is Feifei Yang? Feifei Yang, Huqin (Erhu and Banhu) virtuoso and accomplished vocalist in traditional and contemporary styles. She has performed in notable venues and institutions including The Time Square New Year’s Eve Countdown Stage, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Barclays Center, the United Nations, Summer Stage, the New York Fashion Week, among others. She has served as a judge for the China Central Television’s (CCTV) China Youth Talent Show Contests; the Fifth Annual American Youth Talent and Art Contests. Her releases include Dance of the Strings, Vermillion Bird, Tug of War, Ergo, The Edge of Heaven.

The Dongbei region of China where I was born is known for the rugged icy cold of its weather and the bold, direct and humorous nature of its inhabitants. I grew up in Shenyang, the ancient capital of the Qing dynasty, with its ice festivals and “frozen fog”, alongside a warm circle of friends and family. My parents recognized early that I had a feeling for music, noting that I would sing, dance and imitate local comedians and actors, and I’m grateful to them for supporting my desire to study music. Initially I began with the Chinese “ukulele”, called the liuqin, but soon after my mother suggested that I switch to erhu, the classical Chinese two string violin, which has the tonality of a human voice and is usually the lead instrument in ensembles. My mother felt it was more suited to my personality, as she would say, “Whatever you choose to do in life, make sure you are playing the lead”. I did my conservatory training at the famous Sheyang School of Music where I studied Erhu and Banhu, similar instruments of differing pitch used in classical Chinese orchestras as well as Western musical theory and performance. I moved to the USA in 2010. During my time here, I’ve been invited to play at the UN, Barclay Center, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and most recently, singing and dancing on the internationally televised Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball Drop stage. I’m grateful to be working with a wonderful group of artists, producers, and fellow musicians from diverse genres, from classical, traditional, jazz to pop! Looking forward to sharing more of my music with all of you soon!

Music Video Review:

Review: Feifei Yang is an extremely talented pop star in the making. Her potential is truly endless. The video for Feifei Yang’s new single is titled, “Tug Of War,” and the video will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. This video has a quality storyline and great acting and is very well produced. “Tug Of War” is a lyrical masterpiece with expert level production. Feifei Yang tells you a story that will draw you in and keep you glued from beginning to end. My favorite part of the song comes at about 3 minutes. The breakdown is wonderful and Feifei Yang’s voice will melt your heart. Feifei Yang really showcased her talent with this video. She can act, play instruments, sings wonderfully, and i’m sure she has a few more tricks up her sleeve. I was highly impressed and would recommend Feifei Yang’s music. She is most definitely someone to keep in eye on in the near future. Anthony Barksdale Instagram: feifei_music Twitter: feifei_music[/wr_text][/wr_column][/wr_row]

The band’s first EP “Gumball Machine” was cut in 2015 and can be found on youtube, itunes, and spotify. The band has a wide range of musical influences including (but not limited to) Arctic Monkeys, Incubus, The Pillows, Kimbra, The Beatles, Aurora, The Cure and The Jimi Hendrix Experience to name a few. Grawlix consists of Joshua Boos on Lead Guitar, Kelsey Rogers on Keys/Vocals, Robert Weiss on Bass/Vocals, and Francisco Barahona-Dimichele on Rhythm guitar/Vocals. The band is currently working with Drummer Nick Cannato of Connecticut’s own Pat Stone and the Dirty Boots. Since the start of 2017 the group has been recording their first full length album with Brain Room Studios that is scheduled to release later in the year. Review: Grawlix is a band that I look forward to keeping an eye on. Their unique sound had me hooked from the beginning. The band sounds amazing and the lead vocals fit perfectly. Grawlix does an amazing job of putting together quality songs with meaningful lyrics. I cannot say enough about the band. I was very impressed with how well everyone sounds together. It took me a while to make it past the first song “Beyond The Seam.” I found myself being overwhelmed with emotion and lost in the lyrics in a trance like state. This is a hit single that all people need to do to fall in love with it is to hear it. This song has a unique mix and is produced to its maximum potential. This song has true potential for future movies. The second song titled, “Skin” hit me with a complete curveball. Grawlix showcases their versatility with this song. A slower tempo centered more on vocals and a great story. However, the band finds a way shine with a sick breakdown about three quarters through the song. “Skin” has a catchy chorus that will have you singing along by the end. Grawlix creates powerful music that you can feel. You can tell that they put both heart and soul into every song. True music made with passion that is screaming off of every song. I really enjoy Grawlix’s music it feel real and authentic. I look forward to keeping an eye out for all of their future releases!
