Artists Blog

My name is Fred, I go by SAY (in all caps). I’m originally from Tampa, FL although I currently live in Chicago, IL. I’ve had a love for music all my life but I recently started to take music more serious. The most influential rappers to me are J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, and Jay Z in no specific order. Although I really like all music and a ton of artist. My aim for music is to create such music that positively embeds itself forever. Motivating all listeners, and painting familiar pictures through my lyrical stories.

What inspires you to make music?
Life, desired state of where I want the world to be, and just the feeling I get when I hear a dope instrumental. I couldn’t not instantly start to rap to a good instrumental in my head even if you paid me a million dollars. My mind takes over at the drop of an instrument.

Tell us about this project?
This is just a freestyle that I did for fun. Giving people that appreciate my music a chance to hear something new from me.

Who were your musical inspirations growing up?
Honestly everyone. I loved music so much that I even bought destiny child CDs growing up. I just wanted to vibe out because I didn’t talk much. Still don’t.

Gelo is an artist out of Boston, MA. He is primarily a rapper, but also sings, creates alternative music, rock, RnB, and other variations of hip hop music. He has a very original style and sound and his debut album, The Flavor Pack, is dropping in the spring of 2018. The “In Bloom” Video goes Public on 2/9/18! The song is available on all major platforms now such as, iTunes, Spotify, and Apple Music!

What inspires you to make music?
Hearing other music, life, and just the euphoria I get from creating music. Putting my words and life experiences into song, is just amazing to me and what I truly live for.

Tell us about this project?
This song “In Bloom” is my most PG musical release of this album. I think its a great love story, with colorful language, and the music video is truly a beautifully shot piece of work. I wanted to make a love song, but not use the same corny language everyone else uses, and just provide something fresh and unique. Love songs are not dead, and hip/hop can be a very wide spread genre of music.

Who were your musical inspirations growing up?
Oh my goodness, I can’t even answer with all my inspirations. I grew up on Rock and all forms of it, so as far as that is concerned; Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine, ACDC, Black Sabbath, Avenged Sevenfold, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Sublime, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Those have to be the tops, I definitely have other rock influences, but those bands are the ones who come to mind.

As far as Hip/Hop and Rap is concerned: Eminem, 50 Cent, Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, Mac Miller, The Weekend, Drake, Partynextdoor, Curren$y, Wiz, Fabolous. And plenty others, but those are my shortlist in terms of who inspired me to make music, because of what they were able to do.

Are You Working On Any New Projects?
Currently working on finishing up my debut album, The Flavor Pack. But I have a few mixtapes that are on the hush and can drop whenever, and I am always making new music and picking and choosing which mixtape or album they will go on. There are plenty of works in progress right now. Really excited about some of the acoustic songs that are being worked on.

How long have you been creating music?
The first song I wrote was when I was 8. Ive been recording raps and songs since I was 14. And I think I’ve really started taking this music seriously about a year ago. So I’ve been creating music for my whole life it seems, but being serious about it I would say since I was 21.

Do you want to say anything to the people who support your music?
Thank you. Anyone who supports my music knows I can dabble in so many different genres and sounds, and its tough to anticipate what the flavor is going to be each time I drop something. But I think they’ve come to expect good lyrics, song subject matter that actually reflects or pertains to my life, and just realness. So thank you, you guys are the ones who make me continue to do this and make it worth while. I’ve always recorded and made music because it makes me happy and its my passion, but once I heard from my fans and supporters, thats what motivated me to take it further and be even more successful. Shout out to my fans, y’all really motivate me. I do this music so you can have something to listen to, cry to, vibe to, relate to, dance to, etc.
